I spent my life being outdoors, camping, surfing, biking, and being active, I joined the military, and then I met CrossFit and have been in love since. I was introduced to CrossFit informally in 2009 through a friend who was kept telling me to try out this workout he got from a website with crazy videos, I balked and told him there was NO WAY I could do that, but after a few weeks I gave it a try. On my back, in a puddle of sweat I realized I was hooked. I joined my first Box in 2011 and the rest is history. I love the community that comes with CrossFit, the physical challenges, the skills that it has taught, and the nutritional knowlege. I think that the sport of CrossFit is amazing I love seeing how the sport can change a person and give them the confidence and skill to go out and be amazing! Eat Clean Train Hard!

After a short stint in a fried chicken joint, my second job at age 15 was at my local YMCA. That job got me hooked on the gym atmosphere at an early age – I tried every group exercise class and mastered every machine. While at the YMCA, I was inspired to become a yoga and Pilates instructor – a gig that I maintained all the way through college. After college, I became a "globo gym" personal trainer, but even as I worked to motivate my clients into a life of health and fitness, my own fitness goals began to wane. I dabbled in long distance running, I tried to buckle down on my weight routine; nothing stuck. That’s when a friend told me about CrossFit. I watched some daunting CrossFit videos on YouTube – people jumping onto 5’ boxes, squatting hundreds of pounds, and performing pull-ups at breakneck speed – and I thought, “I can’t do that.” Fortunately my friend was persistent and told me about the scalability of CrossFit – that everyone can do it and you get stronger and faster as you go. I’m so glad she did! In May 2010, CrossFit changed my life. Now, instead of dreading hours on an elliptical machine, I look forward to constantly varied workouts, cheered on by friends. (No one at the globo gym ever cheered for me to finish an elliptical workout!) I continue to be amazed at my own abilities and progress. Instead of the slow descent toward boredom that I experienced in other fitness pursuits, my interest in CrossFit continues to grow. I obtained my Level 1 CrossFit Trainer certification in March 2011. I relish each workout, work toward performing more WODs Rx, look forward to acquiring new skills, and above all, I love to coach - it is a daily gift to see others discover their abilities through CrossFit, and watch as the CrossFit community to grows.

My entire life I have enjoyed playing sports. Growing up my parents kept me busy by introducing me to unique activities including Tae Kwon Do, snowboarding, surfing, and anything you could do on a beach. I played organized sports such as golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, football, swimming and wrestling as well. Upon entering college, I felt my thirst for competition at grow as my opportunity to play competitive sports diminished. I would still go to the gym and "work out" usually with little or no plan and a conscious decision to avoid exercises that I didn't enjoy. Any chance I had to play sports I took, but often found that I was playing a little more serious than those around me. Eventually, a friend asked me to go do some parkour with him, I'd never done it before but always thought it looked cool so I gave it a try. I was terrible, while he was moving with ease. At the end of the day, I asked him what else he was doing to train and he mentioned this thing called "CrossFit." This was in 2008, so when I asked other friends about it no one had ever heard of it. I did a workout with him, thought I was going to die, then spent the next 2 hours online reading the FAQs from CrossFit.com. I have been hooked ever since. In my 3 1/2 years of CrossFit I've learned and seen so much that I am very appreciative to now have the opportunity to share and teach what the amazing trainers have taught me.

Growing up in the beautiful landscape of Arizona, physical activity has been a part of my everyday life since childhood. I can’t remember a single weekend when I wasn’t outdoors, whether I was peddling a skateboard or humping a pack down a desert trail with my father. When I was 17 years old, I joined the military and a few years later found CrossFit. I found the workouts to be just the challenge I needed. Ever since then I’ve been fooling around with the movements and different kinds of programming. Whether it be marathon running or getting stronger than I have ever imagined, CrossFit has always been the backbone of my training and has helped me achieve my goals. The tenacity required for these workouts has translated into the way I live my life. It has taught me that no goal is unattainable, and everything is just within my reach. Party.
